Room 305, Saturday Morning
When Adora finally got to bed last night, after having three separate showers to get rid of all the spider gremlin gunk, she'd crashed pretty hard. So when she started drifting towards wakefulness and realised there was a warm furry body in bed with her, she naturally relaxed and snuggled in closer.
At least until she remembered where she was.
Her eyes flew open. That was definitely not Catra.
Adora's yell was not particularly coherent.
[Open, sure!]

“Relax, Miles,” came a voice coming from a Labrador retriever curled up on his bed. “Everything is fine.”

"Adora thought I was someone else." And, oh, did she sound far too pleased with herself there.

“Am I crazy or did we just suddenly have a petting zoo in our room?” Miles asked still not coming down from the ceiling just yet.
The dog on the bed yawned and sat up and gave a stretch before shaking her out. “Well that just makes sense,” she replied to Ryder. “Miles of course always wanted a dog so my form is no surprise.”
“Hey! How did you know that?” Miles asked, still not coming off the ceiling any time soon.

"She's part of you, just like I'm part of Adora," Ryder explained, giving out a rumbly purr as Adora's fingers found a sweet spot.

"That's a good start," the dog said, sighing contently. "You may call me Luna."
"I like that. I-"
Miles was interrupted by a buzzing phone. When he checked it his face fell a bit. "My uncle's funeral is tomorrow. Looks like I'm heading back to Brooklyn. I wasn't expecting to back so soon."

She looked over as the phone buzzed. "I'm sorry, Miles," she said. "I'm not great with talking about feelings, but I know it's hard to lose people you care about."
Ryder jumped off Adora's bed and came over to shoulderbump Luna.

He paused, looking at his phone as Luna gave Ryder a friendly lick.
"A week ago I would have told you my uncle was the best guy in the world. And part of me still thinks that but this week I learned some things about him that I'm still trying to sort out. I think my dad knew about this before but... I don't know."
He got up and went to his closet, pulling out his suit and his suitcase. "Anyhow, I'll probably be back late tomorrow night. This time I promise you won't have to come to my world and get covered in gremlin goo."

"Families can be complicated like that." Adora suspected that was true even when you grew up knowing what a normal one was. "Like I said, I'm not good at talking, but I'm great at listening if you ever need to. Talk that is."
