Adora might have had an extremely frustrating week, but that just made the relief when she started to drift awake and felt normal again all the more sweet and relaxing. Enough so that she dismissed a not entirely unfamiliar weight thumping on the mattress as simply misplaced nostalgia and wishful thinking.
"Mom."

She cracked open an eyelid.
Boy did Adora have a set of lungs on her.

Spurred on by a number of retrospectively terrifying memories, Adora dove across the room and scooped Kit up. "Maybe we can do that later, there's plenty of climbing equipment in the gym." Which included safety equipment. All the safety equipment.

And suddenly realizing exactly what weekend this was.
“Uh. Yeah. Climbing three stories up should be left to the professionals,” Miles agreed. “Maybe once you are older and your moms are around to supervise,” he said rapidly.

"But my moms let me go even higher than that with Swift Wind."
That was because her actual moms had both processed more of their childhood trauma and gotten over their new parent panic before she could walk.
